Charlotte is pretty dang tiny, though, a ten minute drive or so from Dickson and White Bluff, about thirty minutes or so south of Clarksville.ScurvyDoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12475986616947247959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7938736.post-1105901588598098242005-01-16T10:53:00.000-08:002005-01-16T10:53:00.000-08:00That's kinda neat, that we were all there the same...That's kinda neat, that we were all there the same time...just the 3 of us...out of 50,000. ;)

Hey Scurvydog, e-mail me when you get a chance, will ya?Aprilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05357131421636224573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7938736.post-1105892937429160262005-01-16T08:28:00.000-08:002005-01-16T08:28:00.000-08:00JasonSpaceman,

The umbilical cord gets cut pretty quick-like when you're done with the program and I haven't really kept in touch with any of the instructors or directors of the program.

I enjoyed it, and it's hard to pass up a fewllowship and free grad school, but it's not the most useful program in the world. Aside from a MFA not being of much use, they don't at all attempt to prepare you for any sort of real-world job, nor do they have good connections in the publishing industry, etc. So you're pretty much adrift and left to your own devices once you're gone. Which is fine, but other writing programs do a much better job of not only preparing students for life after grad school but also working pretty hard to get them agents, book deals, etc.

But yeah, like I said, it's a good gig if you can get it and I'd go again, if offered the same opportunity.ScurvyDoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12475986616947247959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7938736.post-1105737178980363922005-01-14T13:12:00.000-08:002005-01-14T13:12:00.000-08:00Small world...that's when I was there the first ti...Small world...that's when I was there the first time!
