Just One More...

I had forgotten about the "Just one more turn" curse of Civ, as far as playing just a tiny bit longer just to finish killing off those pesky Russians, when suddenly the Greeks get jiggy, causing much shifting of armies around and pillaging and what-not, then suddenly, somehow, an hour of your life is gone that you'll never, ever get back. It's a little twisted, too, that I should get as much pleasure as I do out of cranking it down to the lowest level and absolutely dominating to the point that you have Stealth bombers raining down doom on spearmen.

In other blatant non-poker news, the wife and I saw the new Wallace and Gromit movie, which is highly entertaining. It's interesting over time how one's tastes and proclivites change, as far as movies and art and what-not. We also finally got around to seeing I (Heart) Huckabees as well, which was good, too, but not quite as good as I was expecting. As I get older and wiser jaded, I seem to gravitate more towards movies that are pure and simple enjoyment or escapism, as opposed to "realistic" explorations of darker things that exist in the world. So yeah, I still think Gummo is a good movie, and I'm glad it exists, and that people make movies like that, but these days I'd much rather zone out and watch Dodgeball instead.

Yes, all of the above is my long-winded sneaky way of saying that I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year. I have absolutely no idea why. Well, that's a lie. Or a half-truth. Or something.

At a certain point, you just have to blow shit up. Tired of your job? Blow shit up. Tired of playing break-even poker? Blow shit up. Wish you could make mad money doing stuff you enjoy and are good at? Blow shit up.

Or, you know, at least consider lighting the fuse. Especially if it's right there in front of you. And you have matches.
